Four Corners Emergency Management
August 3rd, 2011 Meeting Minutes

The Four Corners Emergency Management met at Granny Shaffers in Joplin, Mo on August 3, 2011. The meeting was called to order by Candy Adams. The meeting was attended by 36 people.

The minutes from the previous meeting was read and motion by Art Blick and seconded by Gregg Sweeten to accept. Motion carried.

Treasurer Gary Roark was not at meeting but Carolyn Jackson reported that the bank balance was at $1,649.86 and that the deposit for the 2011 Conference was paid. Motion by Jim Burton and seconded by Bob Kitsmiller to accept. Motion carried.

The 2011 conference was discussed.

• Members would like to have Keith Stammer do a presentation on the DO'S and DO NOT'S from the tornado as well as Long Term recovery objectives that they are going through now.
• FEMA will be doing some research on the activities going on throughout the United States and will be giving a summary on their findings.
• NWS will do a presentation on watches and warnings and how the time of notification gives the public the ability to take cover.
• Mutual Aid Agreements will be discussed and how to get them with your neighbors prior to an incident.

Keith Stammer reported on the Joplin tornado and gave a brief history of pre-occurrence, the occurrence of the tornado and the several days that followed and are still occurring with respect to the decisions and results that were made during the incident.

The next meeting will be in Joplin at Granny Shaffers on Wed., Oct 5, 2011 at 11 am.
