Four Corners Emergency Management,
March 2010 Meeting Minutes

The Four Corners Emergency Management met at Charlies Chicken in Miami Oklahoma on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. The meeting was attended by 21 people. Meeting was called to order by Candy Adams and introductions were done.

Gary Roark advised that we have $1,485.59 in the checking account. He has paid the $500.00 deposit to Radisson for the 2010 conference. He asked that we add two additional people to be able to sign checks and that it require at least two to sign checks. Motion by John Cooper and seconded by Jim Cook to add Keith Stammer and Carolyn Jackson to the account. Motion carried. Gary also spoke about the possible need to adjust costs for the conf in either raising the fee or doing away with certain parts of the conf. John Gagliardo talked about the website, www.4cornersem.org , and the need for some revisions in certain areas. Some revisions need to be made to the contact information and frequency lists in the Handbook section. He noted that there are many gaps in the handbook. You can find the handbook under "Members" at the bottom of the page. If you do not know the password, ask Candy or John. All members need to look it over and to John no later than April 15 so that the site can be updated. Motion by Keith Stammer and seconded by John Cooper to allow John to change what needs to be done to get the site in order. Motion carried.

The 2010 Conf was talked about. The conference will be on Dec 1, 2, and 3, 2010 at the Radisson in Branson, Mo. The group was asked to think about topics and classes and let Candy know. Kevin Crawford spoke about the upcoming National Level Exercise (NLE) 2011 drill that will occur in May of 2011. Eight states and Several agencies will play roles in the drill over a five day period. A 7.7 earthquake on the New Madrid fault line will be the scenario. Part of the preparations for this exercise will be a table-top exercise at the Four Corners 2010 conference. Anyone who is interested in being on the Exercise Design Team will meet prior to the next Four Corners meeting in June.

Jackie Ferguson with the Kansas City division of EPA talked about an upcoming Water Treatment Plant Emergency Response Team Exercise that will take place in Kimberling City, Mo May 4 - 5, 2010. Going along with the theme of NLE2011, the exercise will begin with an educational session and table-top exercise on May 4, 2010. The next day will be a full-scale drill of the response teams and then the AAR on May 6, 2010. Jackie would like each of the Four Corners states to participate, if possible. The NWS will conduct the annual tornado drill for Kansas and Missouri on Tuesday, March 9 with a back-up date of March 11 at 1:30 p.m. The drill will involve Federal, State and Local agencies and everyone is asked to participate.

The next meeting will be in Joplin, Mo at Granny Shaffer's on June 2, 2010 at 11:00 am. The Exercise Design Committee will meet prior to the meeting at 9:30 am.
